Chris Palcsak, LISW

Therapist (he/him)

I firmly believe that each one of us are the experts of our own experiences. With kindness and curiosity, I provide unconditional support, while gently encouraging personal growth. I also offer mindfulness-based tools and strategies to assist in coping with distress, fostering self-awareness, and building resilience.

I have worked with adults and older teenagers from various backgrounds, with a focus on serving the LGBTQ+ community and people living with HIV. In community mental health and private practice settings, I have supported clients facing a spectrum of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and interpersonal issues. I offer person-centered therapy rooted in evidenced-based treatments, blending elements of acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. I approach counseling through the lenses of social justice, anti-oppression, and trauma-informed care, recognizing the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space for clients.

My ultimate aim is to accompany clients on their journey towards self-discovery and empowerment. Through collaborative exploration, I help individuals recognize their strengths, cultivate self-compassion, and embrace their potential for growth and transformation.

My academic journey has included studies in hospitality, Spanish, and geography, culminating in a master’s degree in social work from Ohio University in 2018.  I enjoy working with teens (16+), older adults, and everyone in between. All of my clinical work is provided by telehealth in order to increase convenience and accessibility.
