Lisa Kapp, LPCC

Therapist (she/her)

I’m a licensed professional clinical counselor who is passionate about working with teens and adults struggling with OCD, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related conditions. I approach this work with genuine curiosity and respect for the courage it takes to begin therapy. My goal is to help people better understand their experiences, gain tools to manage discomfort, and build lives that feel more stable and fulfilling. My approach is active, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and trauma-focused CBT to help clients break free from the cycles of avoidance, fear, and self-doubt that often keep them stuck.

I see therapy as a partnership built on trust, curiosity, and compassion. Together, we’ll identify what’s keeping you from living the life you want, clarify your goals, and develop strategies that make sense for your specific needs and values. I believe that therapy should be both practical and deeply human. It’s about learning new ways to think and respond, but also about feeling understood and supported as you do that work. My clients often tell me they appreciate my calm, grounded presence and the sense of direction and clarity we build together.

Before joining COAC, I spent more than a decade working in a variety of behavioral health and social service settings across Ohio. At Bellefaire JCB, I provided therapy for children and adolescents experiencing significant emotional and behavioral challenges, collaborating closely with families and schools to support long-term growth. At Mount Carmel’s Crime & Trauma Assistance Program, I offered individual and group therapy for survivors of crime, abuse, and traumatic events—work that strengthened my commitment to creating safety and stability in the healing process. Earlier in my career, I also directed and developed counseling programs at the New Directions Career Center, helping adults rediscover confidence and purpose after major life transitions.

These experiences have taught me that people heal best when therapy balances structure with flexibility, science with empathy, and accountability with kindness. I strive to create an environment where it’s safe to be honest, to experiment with new ways of coping, and to celebrate progress at every step.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and an MBA in Marketing from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Wittenberg University.

I’m passionate about helping people find relief from anxiety and self-criticism, reconnect with their strengths, and move toward a life that feels calmer, freer, and more meaningful.
